AI & Democracy Foundation

The AI & Democracy Foundation sits at the intersection of AI and democracy, bringing together AI labs, policymakers, researchers and funders to shape better governance around emerging technologies. The identity needed to resonate across this diverse audience while feeling credible, optimistic and, above all, human.

The system is built around the idea of bridging different worlds. Rather than relying on a single hero colour, the identity uses a flexible palette that shifts depending on context. Complementing the identity is a custom suite of isometric illustrations, developed to simplify complex ideas and introduce warmth across applications. The result is a brand that feels approachable without compromising authority.

The project presented a unique set of constraints. The visual system needed to remain politically neutral, avoiding colour associations that could imply bias, while being expressive enough to engage grassroots organisations and robust enough for government audiences. Google Fonts were required for accessibility and scalability, so the challenge became creating a distinctive identity through the system itself rather than relying on bespoke assets. Finding that balance between personality and institutional credibility became the defining consideration throughout the project.
